In the coming months, we here at Tiny Footprint Coffee plan on highlighting the many restaurants, coffee shops, college campuses, and other locations that carry our products: Gustavus Adolphus College is the first.

Since our relationship began in 2010 to the end of June 2013, Gustavus has reduced its carbon footprint by 712,969 pounds, while enjoying our delicious coffee.

What is even more impressive is that this offset is the same as taking over 67 passenger cars off the road for a year, according to the E.P.A. Greenhouse Equivalencies Calculator.   Additionally, this is enough to offset the emissions from 36,256 gallons of gasoline and is equivalent to the amount of carbon sequestered by 265 acres of U.S. forests, according to the same E.P.A. calculator.

What’s even more gratifying is our partnership has gone beyond sustainable coffee service with a Gustavus J-Term class planting trees with our reforestation partners in Ecuador: The Mindo Cloudforest Foundation.  Check out the class trip’s Facebook album.  A few photos are posted below as well.

The Mindo Cloudforest region, located in Ecuador, is one of the wettest, most bio-diverse spots on the planet.  In addition to reducing greenhouse gases from the earth’s atmosphere, our partnership with the Mindo Cloudforest Foundation has helped generate a habitat for endemic and migratory bird species, while creating jobs for people that are in harmony with the environment.
